How we look after your information.
This policy explains what personal information Ghana Online Will Maker collects when you use the platform, why we collect it, who else sees it, and the choices you have about it.
01Who we are
Ghana Online Will Maker is operated by Remembers Group, a company registered in Ghana. We are the data controller for the information you provide on this platform.
You can reach us at the address listed at the end of this policy, or by emailing info@ghanaonlinewillmaker.com.
02What we collect
We collect three kinds of information.
- Account information. Name, email address, phone number, country, and a password you choose. We need this so you can sign in and so we can contact you about your will.
- Will-builder information. The details you enter while building your will — your assets, beneficiaries, executors, guardianship choices, and any instructions you write. This information is encrypted at rest.
- Technical information. Standard server logs (IP address, browser type, time of access) and cookies — see the Cookie Policy for the full list.
03How we use it
We use your information to:
- Produce, store, and deliver the will you create.
- Verify your identity at sign-in and protect your account from unauthorised access.
- Reply to questions you send us and provide customer support.
- Send you transactional emails about your account (receipts, password resets, will-related notices).
- Improve the platform — measured in aggregate, never tied back to your name.
We do not sell your information. We do not show third-party advertising on the platform and we do not allow ad networks to track you here.
04Who we share it with
A small number of trusted parties see specific parts of your information when it is necessary to deliver the service.
- Zoe, Akyea & Co. — your legal partner of record. They review your will if you select the Super tier (lawyer review) or if you request a bespoke service. Otherwise they do not see your will.
- Payment processors — they receive the information needed to process your payment (name, card details, amount). They never see the contents of your will.
- Email and hosting providers — they store and transmit data on our behalf, under contracts that require them to keep it confidential.
- Public authorities — only if compelled by a valid Ghanaian court order.
05How long we keep it
Your will and supporting documents are kept in the Documentation Vault for as long as your subscription is active, and for a further 12 months after expiry to allow renewal. After that, the documents are deleted unless you ask us to keep them. Account records are kept for as long as legally required.
06Your rights
You can ask us at any time to:
- Send you a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct anything that is out of date or wrong.
- Delete your account and any information that is not subject to a legal retention obligation.
- Stop using your information for any optional purpose (such as marketing).
Email info@ghanaonlinewillmaker.com and we will respond within 30 days.
07Security and storage
All data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2 or above) and at rest. Will contents and uploaded supporting documents are stored with envelope encryption — only the holder of the matching key can decrypt them. Servers are located in the European Union, with backup replicas in a second region.
No platform can claim perfect security. If we ever become aware of a breach affecting your data, we will tell you within 72 hours and tell the National Data Protection Commission as required by Ghanaian law.
08Children
You must be 18 or older to make a will under the Wills Act 1971. Ghana Online Will Maker is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has registered an account, please email us and we will delete the account immediately.
09Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes are signposted on the platform and sent to your account email at least 30 days before they take effect. Older versions are available in the version history linked above.
